Covid 19 Protocols - September 2021
Upon arriving at the maths school, swimmers and parents enter through the door and up the stairs to the pool. There will be no one way system in operation and there will be no need to wait in the hall before sessions. The school have asked for all spectators to wear the overshoes provided to safeguard the new floor and to keep it as clean and sanitary as possible. The dispensor for these is situated on the wall by the door on poolside.
The poolside area has been completely remodelled, with more space available to socially distance. There will be hand sanitiser available on the poolside and we would still encourage all those on poolside to make use of this. Following guidelines from the school, we will continue with our 1 adult to 1 swimmer rule for spectators, and we are pleased to say that the changing rooms and the showers are now open again, but you are still welcome to come "beach ready" if that is more convenient for you. Children can return to waiting with parents before their lesson, and we would encourage this, as the barrier has been removed and we need to keep the poolside clear of those not involved in the current lesson. In line with the current guidelines, and in order to minimise spread of infection (and resulting isolations for our swimmers, staff and parents) we will be asking all spectators to continue wearing face masks when on poolside. Desk staff on the poolside will be wearing face masks/shields and teachers will don a mask when talking to parents and spectators.
The guidance from Swim England is that teaching can now return to pre covid protocols, so we are happy to say we can again teach the way we know is most effective. Any support or assistance given in the water will still be be provided from behind the swimmer to avoid face to face contact tominimise the risk of spread of virus. It is worth noting that throughout the whole pandemic, it was accepted that one of the safest places to be was in the pool, with the chlorinated environment being able to combat the virus in a matter of seconds.
As has become normal, if any of our swimmers or parents start to show symptoms, please follow government guidance on isolating and notify us as soon as possible.
We are really looking forward to getting back to teaching swimming lessons, and can't wait to see all of our swimmers and parents again. We believe that our experiences over the last 18 months have given us the tools to adapt to any changing restrictions in the coming weeks and months, please bear with us if this becomes necessary. If you have any questions regarding returning to the pool, please don't hesitate to text, e mail or call us over the coming weeks.
Kind regards and best wishes, please continue to stay safe.
